Digital marketing consultant · Athens & Thessaloniki

You spend on advertising. Do you know what it returns?

A digital marketing consultant is the person who puts your strategy, channels and budget in order — before anything runs. My job is to tell you which euro performs, which does not, and in what order things change.

I am John Kiskipelis, a digital marketing consultant based in Athens and Thessaloniki, Greece. I work with any business that advertises online — online stores, services, B2B, tourism, healthcare — on channel strategy, ad account audits, choosing and reviewing agencies, and measurement that reaches sales, leads or bookings, not reports. 15+ years in Greek digital marketing and e-commerce — and founder of UpCommerce, the agency that takes on execution when needed, as a separate engagement.

When you need a consultant

The marketing is running. The direction is missing.

The businesses that find me are not looking for someone to press buttons. They already have an agency, a freelancer or their own team — and they do not know whether the work being done is the right work.

i.

You pay for ads without knowing the limit

ROAS or cost per lead looks fine, the bank account does not. Nobody has told you how far it is worth raising the budget — and beyond which point you are buying revenue at a loss.

ii.

You have an agency, but no second opinion

The report arrives every month and shows green. You have nobody on your side to read it and say whether the numbers mean what they seem to.

iii.

You have a team, but no plan

The people are good and work hard. What is missing is the order: what first, what next, what not at all — and who decides.

What I help with

Six areas — not a package.

There is no standard methodology. Every engagement starts from where you are stuck, and the work adapts to that.

Channel strategy & budget

Which channels are worth it for your business, in what order, and how much budget each one carries before it starts losing.

Ad account audits

Google, Meta, Skroutz: structure, targeting, allocation, measurement. What is wasted, what is missing, what changes first — in writing.

Choosing and reviewing an agency

What to ask for, how to compare proposals, how to read the reports afterwards. I sit on your side of the table.

Measurement that reaches the bank account

From ROAS and cost per lead to what was left at the end. The only dashboard that counts is the one that agrees with your accountant.

Marketplace & Skroutz

If you sell products: presence strategy, buybox, growth tools — and when the marketplace should be the first channel, not the last.

Training your team

If you have in-house people, they learn to run and judge the work themselves. My goal is for you to need me less, not more.

Consultant or agency?

Advice and execution are two different jobs.

A

The consultant

Works with you by the hour or monthly and does not run accounts. Sees the whole and says what changes. That is what I do, on this page.

B

The agency

Executes daily, with a team and tools. If you need execution, UpCommerce is a digital marketing agency for any business — a separate engagement, with its own account manager, that starts only if it makes sense for you.

Results

When the direction changes, the numbers follow.

Three examples with a client name and a number — public, verifiable.

Marketplace
NewCult
+33.84%
Skroutz revenue, in one quarter, on the same budget

The budget did not change — its allocation did. Each Skroutz tool was funded on its own return, instead of all of them together as one block.

Omnichannel
Christou 1910
20%
of annual revenue from online, in under three years

The partnership started without an e-shop, with the goal of awareness for the stores. Online was built as one channel among several — not as a separate business.

Google & Social
Rose Poupée
40%+
of annual revenue from the e-shop

Five channels working separately were brought into one set of numbers. Audience research also led to a product decision: the first Greek toy e-shop with a gender neutral menu.

Who I am

I have seen advertising from both sides.

I founded UpCommerce in 2020 and made it the first agency in Greece to be certified as a Skroutz Partner. I know how an account runs from the inside — which is why I know what to ask when I audit one on your behalf.

As a consultant I work alone, not through the team — and the advice does not depend on whether execution follows: if the right answer is “stay with the agency you have”, I will tell you.

FAQ about the digital marketing consultant

Looks at a business’s marketing on the numbers and says what performs, what does not and what changes first. In practice: channel strategy and budget, ad account audits, choosing or reviewing an agency, measurement that reaches real results, and training the team. The consultant does not run the campaigns — that is the job of an agency or an in-house team.

When the problem is not hands but direction: you spend without knowing the limit, you have an agency and want a second opinion, or you have an in-house team that needs a plan. If you need someone to run the accounts daily, you need an agency — and I can help you choose one.

The first 30-minute conversation is free. From there, the cost depends on the form of the engagement: hours on a specific question, a full account audit or a steady monthly engagement — you get a specific proposal after the first conversation. I do not take a percentage of your advertising budget: my fee does not depend on how much you spend.

Any business that spends on digital marketing and wants to know what it returns: online stores, services, B2B, tourism, healthcare, retail with physical stores — of every size. What changes is the scope of the work, not the sector. For online stores specifically there is also ecommerce consulting, the deeper version of the same work.

All three. I am based in both cities, but most of the work happens online — data does not need an office. I work with businesses across Greece and with Greek brands selling abroad.

Ask for results with a client name and a number, not generalities. Ask what relationship they have with the channels they recommend. I founded an agency — which is why consulting is a separate engagement, with its own fee, and I say so from the first conversation. And ask them to tell you what they will NOT do: a consultant who takes on everything is usually not a consultant.
