How to sell on Skroutz: from registration to the first profitable order
Skroutz is Greece’s largest marketplace: by its own public figures for 2025, more than seven million unique visitors a month and about one billion euros in annual sales value. For a Greek online store it is a channel that cannot be ignored; for an international brand, one of the main routes to the Greek customer. This guide, written by John Kiskipelis, founder of the first agency certified as a Skroutz Partner in Greece, explains step by step how to sell on Skroutz: registration, catalogue, price, delivery, tools, ads — including selling from abroad — and how to work out whether it pays before you list the first product.
What Skroutz Marketplace is
From price comparison to marketplace: how selling on Skroutz works today
Skroutz started as a price-comparison engine that sent the user to your store. Today the purchase mostly completes inside Skroutz Marketplace: the customer pays Skroutz, Skroutz sends you the order, you ship it — or Skroutz does. Three things to know before anything else.
Skroutz Marketplace accepts merchants that have an online store and merchants that do not — as long as there is a business with the required documents. For most, though, Skroutz is a second store next to their own.
On Skroutz the user starts from the product and sees side by side the stores that carry it. That is how people who do not know your brand find you — and how you are judged: price, delivery, rating, on the same screen as everyone else.
Skroutz charges a fixed subscription and a commission per sale, which differs by category, according to its pricing policy. The number you need to know is not the commission — it is what is left after it, shipping and advertising.
The 7 steps
How to sell on Skroutz, step by step
In the order they happen. The first two are paperwork, the next three are the work that decides whether you sell, and the last two are what separates a store that “is on Skroutz” from one that wins there.
1 · Register on Skroutz Merchants
An application with the business details, identity verification with its documents and a bank account for settlements. Approval usually takes a few days when the documents are right the first time.
2 · Product catalogue
Products go up through an XML file from your store or manually, and are matched to Skroutz’s existing product pages. Correct product codes, titles, categories and availability — a product that is not matched correctly is never found.
3 · A price that survives comparison
On Skroutz the customer sees every store side by side. Your price is decided by the margin after commission and shipping — not by being the cheapest on everything. In categories you cannot afford, you do not list.
4 · Delivery that shows
Delivery time and shipping cost appear next to the price. Products shipped through Skroutz and collected from lockers usually win at equal prices. You decide what you ship yourself and what goes through Skroutz.
5 · Service and ratings
The store’s ratings shape its image and, usually, its visibility. Replies to messages, deliveries on time, returns without friction — reputation on Skroutz is built with orders, not with advertising.
6 · Growth tools
Price Optimizer, Deals, Coins: the tools that turn visibility into an order. At Fitone, 86% of revenue came from them. How to work them: Skroutz Growth →
7 · Advertising
Sponsored Products for position in the category, Brand Page and Video Ads for brands. They come in once catalogue, price and delivery are ready — otherwise you pay for clicks that do not become orders. Skroutz Ads →
How to work out whether Skroutz pays — before you list the first product
Net revenue minus product cost, per category — not an average. Skroutz pays off in categories with a margin that carries commission and shipping, and not in all of them.
The category’s commission, the shipping cost you do not charge the customer, and a percentage for returns and undelivered parcels. What is left is the profit per order before advertising.
The same order from your site leaves a different profit. If Skroutz brings customers who would not have found you otherwise, the difference is worth it; if it merely moves your own, it is not. Online store profitability →
The most common mistake is “all or nothing”. You list the categories that leave profit, keep the rest on your store, and revisit it every quarter with the real numbers.
Tools and ads
Position brings the click, price and delivery bring the order
Skroutz gives merchants tools that are easy to use and hard to read. The difference between a store that merely exists and one that wins is how they are combined.
They keep your price where it needs to be to take the order, within limits you set based on margin. Without limits, you win orders and lose profit.
Points bring the customer back for the next purchase. Shipping through Skroutz and collection from a locker are not marketing tools, they are delivery services — but they influence the buyer’s decision at equal prices and your store’s rating.
Advertising lifts the product to the top positions. It pays once price and delivery are already solved, and it is measured per product: what it cost, what it sold, what was left. NewCult raised its Skroutz revenue by 33.84% in three months, on the same budget, by reallocating ads and tools.
The mistakes
The six mistakes we see most often on Skroutz
We see them in most presence audits, in stores of every size. None of them needs budget to fix.
The whole catalogue, without a calculation
Every product goes up, and low-margin categories sell at a loss hidden inside revenue.
A cheaper price on Skroutz than on the store
Your own customers learn to buy from where you pay commission. The price is the same; offers are done with the platform’s tools for a set period.
A catalogue that does not match
Wrong codes, incomplete titles, products in the wrong category. The product exists in your store and does not exist on Skroutz.
Advertising before price and delivery
You pay for first position and the customer buys from third, which has a better price or faster delivery. The order is: catalogue, price, delivery, then advertising.
Slow replies, slow deliveries
The store’s rating drops, visibility with it, and nobody connects the two. Service on Skroutz is part of the marketing.
No monthly report
Skroutz revenue without profit per category, without comparison with the store, without a decision. The channel runs on its own — and usually runs downhill.
For international brands: how to sell on Skroutz from abroad
For a brand from abroad, Skroutz is where the Greek buyer compares prices and stores. That is why it goes into the plan of every market entry into Greece that we work on, next to Google and Meta.

Start from the calculation, not from the registration
Before you open an account, do the calculation from the “whether it pays” section for your three biggest categories. If it adds up, the application is a day’s work. If it does not, you saved months. The calculation is laid out in the guide online store profitability →

Frequently asked questions about selling on Skroutz
What is Skroutz Marketplace?
It is the part of Skroutz where the purchase is completed inside the platform: the customer pays Skroutz, the merchant receives the order and ships it — or Skroutz does. It accepts merchants with or without their own online store, and it is the main way anyone sells on Skroutz today.
How do I register on Skroutz?
Through Skroutz Merchants: an application with the business details, identity verification with its documents, a bank account for settlements, and then the product catalogue through an XML file or manually. Approval usually takes a few days when the documents are complete.
How much does it cost to sell on Skroutz?
A fixed subscription and a commission per sale that differs by category, according to Skroutz’s pricing policy, plus shipping and returns. The amounts are on the platform and they change — which is why the calculation is done with the current rates of your own category, not with what you heard.
Is Skroutz worth it if I already have an online store?
For the categories where the margin carries commission and shipping, usually yes: it brings customers who would not have found you. For the rest, no — they stay on your store. The decision is taken per category with your own numbers, and revisited every quarter.
Do I have to be the cheapest to sell?
No. The customer sees price, delivery time, shipping cost and store rating together. A price close to the best, with faster delivery and good ratings, often wins. Price Optimizer keeps the price where it needs to be, within the limits of your margin.
What are Skroutz’s growth tools?
Price Optimizer, Deals, Coins and the other tools the platform gives merchants for price, offers and repeat purchases. They are easy to use; the hard part is reading the data and combining them — that is where the difference between stores is decided.
Can I sell on Skroutz from abroad?
Yes. Brands with a company in another country sell in Greece through Skroutz shipping from abroad — like Fitone from Bulgaria. You need Greek-language content, delivery times that survive comparison, returns and customer service in Greek, and VAT questions settled with your accountant.
Do I need an agency to sell on Skroutz?
Not to start — registration and the catalogue can be done on your own. You need an agency when you want to know what you earn per category, work tools and ads together, and have a monthly report that leads to decisions. UpCommerce’s Skroutz Growth does that, as a certified Skroutz Partner Agency.
